At Cartridge King we are a leading retailer of leading printer manufacturers ink cartridges. Many people are surprised to find that the cost of a new black or colour printer ink cartridge can be more than they paid for the printer. Inkjet cartridges are the ‘engine’ that ‘drives’ the printing so it’s not surprising that the printer is often cheaper. Imagine a car without an engine – that’s a printer without its ink cartridge.
Like most things in life, you have several options when your inkjet printer ink needs replacing:
New original equipment manufacturer (OEM) printer ink cartridges are the same as the ink cartridges that came with the printer, though are invariably a lot fuller than the initial one’s that came with the printer. Some printers come with cartridges with very little ink in, so the manufacturers can keep the price down. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) printer ink cartridges cost more than the other options mentioned below, but do offer peace of mind, as these are made by the same manufacturer that made your printer. At Cartridge King, selling OEM cartridges is our priority. Our goal is to sell these cartridges to at the best possible price. We believe that quality is second to none, and in the very unlikely event that you have malfunctioning cartridge, we will replace it for you.
Compatible printer ink cartridges are available for many inkjet printers. These are printer cartridges that are made by generic manufacturers. They are often unreliable.
You may also wish to consider remanufactured ink cartridges. These are previously used cartridges that have been cleaned and refilled.
NOTE: Buying an OEM from Cartridge King is cheaper than going to a high street retailer and buy a refill. Need we say more?
Your final option for purchasing ink is to buy inkjet refill kits that allow you to refill empty printer ink cartridges with bottled ink that comes in the kit. However, it is a messy job, which needs a steady hand, and spillages or leaks can easily occur.
Like many things in life, we are now faced with a huge problem of counterfeit or ‘fake’ ink cartridges. The packaging looks real, but the result is not good! They often leak, and are not always compatible with your printer. We strongly recommend that you avoid the temptation of counterfeit cartridges.
NOTE: At Cartridge King, we source all our products from Authorised IT Distributors. This ensures that we never come across counterfeit products.
Printer manufacturers give their printer ink cartridges ‘duty cycle ratings’ to indicate how many pages the user should expect to print on average from that single printer ink cartridge. These ratings can be a good way for consumers to compare the lifespan of ink cartridges across different types of printer models from the same printer manufacturer. They are slightly misleading however. The printer ink cartridge duty cycle figure is usually displayed in the following way: ‘400 pages at 5% coverage’. The figure of 5% should be noted. The manufacturer is referring to the approximate percentage of the page the ink should cover in order to be able to last for the number of pages specified. It is important to be aware that if you are planning on using the printer to print colour photographs, brochures or documents that feature a lot of imagery or heavy black text, your ink usage will be much higher than that suggested by the manufacturer's rating. Some brochure pages have nearer 70% coverage so you should not be surprised when you get a smaller number of pages from your printer ink cartridges.
Where possible we aim to responsibly dispose of used cartridges. Customers with eligible cartridges will be sent FREEPOST details of how to return them.
We reduce the amount of unnecessary packaging on some products we sell. This reduces enviromental impact as excess packaging is recycled. This not only benefits the environment but also allows a lot of the packages to fit straight through your letterbox. The cost savings that result from this allow us to offer lower prices.
Some products may be re-packed. This will not affect the product or its functionality. Manufacturers warranties still apply and all products are guaranteed.
